When Stuart Dawe inherited the Twineworks from his father John, he had to sell Millbrook House. He built a bungalow next to the factory based on a wooden prefabricated building, but with brick-built extensions. He lived in it until his death around 1982. Then Mr and Mrs Marks bought the site and lived in the bungalow. It was occupied until 2015.
The condemned bungalow had no historical value or appeal, and it almost blocked the entrance to the main walk site, so it has been demolished and our new Visitor Centre has been built on part of the site. See HERE. Access is now improved and we have parking for the disabled, and a splendid community space.
